So i just listened to your podcast with Robert Greene, which i liked actually. I then read the first 3 chapters in the 48 laws of power book. With that in mind, i just can't help but feeling quite a substantial amount of cognitive dissonance. This is because , one of the things you talk about a lot is saying the truth but after reading the first 3 chapters in the 48 laws, it seems that Robert Greene is very much for being deceitful and hiding your truth to suit the situation. I know you talk a lot about having "teeth" and being a "monster" sometimes as well, when you need to be. I''m thinking maybe the connection lies somewhere in that idea?
As a M.A. student in Psychology at a left-leaning Canadian university, I have a hard time positioning myself and conducting research in a way that aligns with my conservative worldview. Do you have any thoughts or suggestions on how to proceed?
In the past you have indicated that you do not agree that emotional intelligence is a differentiated phenomena. During your recent lecture at Cambridge you referenced the generation of semantic and emotional information (in relation to the activity of free speech). Given that semantic information is the primary basis of intellectual intelligence....does not the capacity to generate emotional information equivalently implicate the existence of emotional intelligence? IOW...if, as you say, emotional information can be generated...does that not imply the existence of emotional intelligence?
