Tell the truth, but don’t cast pearls before swine
How do you balance the necessity to speak truthful and the need to sometimes withhold truth from someone when they aren’t ready to hear it? Are you being dishonest even when you don’t “cast the pearls before swine”? And does this fall into the realm of: until you expertly understand the law, you can’t ethically break the law?
Harry Potter Breaking Rules and my 10yr old
Im 30 and have a 10 year old daughter (she’s brilliant). As a younger man still learning and growing myself, I found myself a bit stumped from my daughters question about her observations of the first 2 Harry Potter movies - she said “why do Harry and his friends get praised in the end of the movie even though they broke the rules? How do we know when it’s ok to break the rules adults set?” … i essentially told her that there are times that people do/need to break rules for the greater good (Rahab hiding Jewish men and lying about it). But I struggled to articulate to her how we should only break rules that are breaking the “ultimate rule” - if your teacher says you should push kids on the playground when they are in your way - this would be a rule that you should break to keep the greater rule of being respectful and kind… is there a better way for me to articulate this to my daughter, and am I thinking correctly? Conspiracy theories...
Its hard not to get lost in possible conspiracy theories, especially when quite a few come true...ie vaccine info, re you wont get it, you cannot pass it on, you can get it, you can pass it on, masks work, they dont work etc...there are lots more in the world, especially today, not just vaccine related. What is your take on these conspiracy theories that are coming true, quick time? Thanks for all you do
